Fall’s cosmetic trends have a lot to do with the sophisticated, tailored fashion collections this Season. And these streamlined looks call for a face polished to perfection.

Two basic trends emerge to accomplish this “polished to perfection” look:

• Eyes smoky with an exciting interjection of some metallics, paired with light lipsticks or Lipstains that are more nude.
• An opposing look to the metallic smoky eye and pale lip is the emergence of a more glamorous look reminiscent of 1940′s Hollywood featuring an extremely clean look for the eyes, with matte and pale shadows, a line of dark eyeliner on top or the lid, beautiful lashes and nothing on the lower lid. This eye is then paired with a strong red lip. (I’m getting a picture of legendary actresses, Gene Tierney and Marilyn Monroe.) Brows are taking a backseat this season. After emerging as a strong, bold trend last fall, the brow this season is simply groomed and shaped.

As usual, perfect skin is in. The complexion is a little more matte than last season, but not flat looking.
